Major Achievements

8th December Competed in the Walcha Novice Utility Trial . Karana Spud Came 2nd. Then on Saturday & Sunday we competed in the Open Utility & came 2nd with Karana Ace & 3rd with Karana Roy IV & 4th with Karana Pixie

24th August we competed in the 3 sheep trial at Wentworth Show for 3 days coming 1st in the Novice with Karana Ned V Second with Karana Spud. Then we competed in the Open 3 sheep on Saturday & Won it with Karana Spud.

7th March 2023 Karana Roy IV won the National Kelpie Championship at Mansfield in Victoria against 114 other dogs giving us our 10th National Kelpie Championship win. At the same venue next day we competed in the Australian Yard dog Championship with Roy against 135 other dogs & he came 2nd in the Qualifying Open Championship & 5th in the Australian Yard Dog Championship. So with 10 wins in the National Kelpie & 1 win in the Australian Yard dog Championship that gives us 11 National Championship titles.

5th June 2022 Karana Roy IV Won the Mackenzie Hazelton Charity Stock Dog Trial at Cowra where we had to work a 3 sheep trial & a cattle trial & a yard trial & the 3 scores were added together & even though we didn’t win any of the individual trials we had 3 good scores which gave us the overall win. Showing his all round ability. The trial was put on in conjunction with a charity auction to raise money for Mackenzie Hazelton a little 7 year old girl who has been battling Cancer for 2 years. Total raised by the Auction of donated goods & services was $28,000 plus donations bringing the total to $ 42,000 with more to come in. Well done to the NSW Yard Dog Assn for a great cause.

20th March 2022 Roy Won the Open Championship yard dog trial at Yass Show

6th March 2022 Ace won the open yard dog trial at Koorawatha

25th April 2021 Karana Roy IV had the NSW Utility Trial Championship won but as we were leaving the arena Roy lifted his leg on the gatepost & we lost 10 points for that which resulted in him losing by 3 points, he was 7 points in front before that happened.

2nd August 2020 Karana Roy IV  Won the New South Wales Utility Championship at Nyngan

8th March 2020 Karana Roy IV came 3rd in the Open Yard Dog Championship at Dalgety

8th March 2020 Karana Ace came 4th in the Imp Yard Trial at Dalgetty

2nd Nov 2019 following the West wyalong Championship Roy came 5th in the Australian Yard Dog Championship

2nd Nov 2019 Karana Roy IV Came 2nd in the West Wyalong Open Yard Dog Championship which was the lead up to the Australian Yard Dog Championship.

14th Sept 2019 Karana Tige II  came 2nd in the Open Yard Dog Trial at Eugowra show

7th Sept 2019 Karana Roy IV came 2nd in the Open Yard Trial at Forbes Show with KaranaTige II 3rd & Karana Ace 5th & Greg Walton Won it with Karana Max. 4 of the 5 finalists were Karana Bred dogs.

1st Sept 2019 Tige II Won the Open Utility at Finley Show scoring 88+93

31st August Karana Ace came 2nd in the Novice Utility Trial at Finley Show

25th August 2019 Karana Roy IV Won the Goat Trial where we had to work 3 billy goats around the same course as a 3 sheep trial & pen them which Roy did to win the trial

25 August 2019 Tige II came 2nd in the Open Yard Dog Championship at Wentworth Show

22nd August we competed in the Novice 3 sheep at Wentworth Show & Saraih Came 1st Ace 2nd & Tige 3rd & then we competed in the Improver 3 sheep & Saraih Won that one as well.

26th May 2019 Ace Won the Novice Yard Trial at Dubbo Show

25th May 2019 Tige II Won the Open Yard Trial at the Dubbo Show

5th May 2019 Karana Ace came 2nd in the Novice Yard Dog Trial at Wagga Yard Dog Championship 96+93

5th May 2019 Karana Roy IV came 2nd in the Wagga Yard Dog Championship

29th April 2018 Tige came 2nd in the National Kelpie Utility Champioship in Arthur River in WA. Tige also came 2nd last year in the National Kelpie, This is the 13th time we have come 2nd in the National Kelpie Championship.

18th February 2018 Karana Tige II Won the Open Yard Dog Trial at Gunning scoring 91 + 92

 17th February 2018 Karana Tige II Won the Open Yard Dog Trial at Gundagai scoring 95 + 96

14th May 2017 Karana Tige II came 3rd in the Ultimate Stock Dog Trial for the second time.

4th March 2017 Karana Tige II came 2nd in the Open National Kelpie Championship at Alexandra in Victoria, This is the 12th time we have come 2nd in the National Kelpie Utility Championship. ( Tige II is a son of Abba II who has Won the National on 2 occasions. Greg Walton came 4th with Karana Max ( Another son of Abba II )

3rd March 2017 Karana Tige II came 2nd in the Novice National Kelpie at Alexandra in Victoria Greg Walton Won it with one of our dogs Karana Max.

Won NSW Yard Dog Handler for the year for 2014 & 2015 & 2016

2nd October Karana Ripper II came 2nd & Karana Rambo came 3rd in the NSW Yard Dog Championship at Boorowa

7th August Karana Rambo came 4th in the Australian Yard Dog Championships at West Wyalong.

Won 9 National Kelpie Championships and came 2nd 14 times.I believe this performance proves beyond any doubt  that our aim to breed dogs with all round ability is working when you take into account our performances in field trials & yard trials & cattle trials.

We have now had 6 different dogs win the National Kelpie Utility Trial Championship with Digger II winning it 3 times & Abba II winning it twice, Seiko winning it once, Duke winning it once, Sami winning it once & Ripper winning it once.

April 2015 We came first & second in the National Kelpie Championship at Cressy in Tasmania. Karana Ripper II 1st & Karana Abba II coming 2nd.

Sept 2001: At Toowoomba we came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Australian Yard Dog Championship. A feat that has never been achieved before or since then. 1st was Karana Stubbie, 2nd was Karana Seiko in a run off (Stubbie's Brother) and 3rd was Karana Chad (Seiko's grandson).We also came 1st with Karana Digger & 2nd with Diggers brother Karana Scud in the National Kelpie Utility Championship at Toowoomba the same week.

Won 2 NSW Yard Dog Championships.(Seiko won it in 1994 and Abba won it in 2011)

Won 1st and 2nd at the 2011 NKFTC at Euroa VIC.

4th October 2015 Abba II & his son Tige II Won the Progeny point score at Boorowa Yard Dog Championships

Won an Open Cattle Trial on our 2nd attempt with Karana Tige II at Taralga 24/5/2015 he scored 97 out of 100

24 / 5 / 2015 Came 2nd & equal 3rd in the Ultimate Stock Dog Championship where your dog has to compete in a Cattle Trial, Yard Trial & a 3 Sheep trial & all 3 scores added for your final score. Abba II came 2nd & his son Tige II Came equal 3rd with his half brother Karana Jed ( By Abba II ) worked by Greg Walton. This was where Tige II won the cattle trial with a great score of 97 out of 100.

Competed in the Ultimate stock dog Championship again this year 2016 where competitors are only allowed to enter 2 dogs each.   Over all we did not get into the top 10 but we did have a very good yard section with our 2 entries Abba II & his son Tige II coming equal first both top scoring with 97 points out of 100.

Won 1 Australian Yard dog Championship in 2001 at Toowoomba in Qeensland where we came 1st 2nd & 3rd & this has not ever been achieved before or since.

Won 42 Area Championship Yard Trials.
Won 81 Open Yard Trials.
Won 33 Open Utility Championships.
Won 12 State Utility Championships.
Won 10 novice three sheep trials.
Won 6 Imp 3 sheep trials.
Won 6 Open 3 sheep trials and came 2nd 5 times.
Won 7 Open Classic combination 3 sheep and Yard Trials.
Won 6 Novice Classic combination 3 sheep and Yard Trials.

Won 1 combination 3 sheep trial & yard trial & cattle trial by Karana Roy IV.

Won 1 Goat Trial where we had to work 3 Billy Goats on the same course as a 3 sheep trial & pen at the finish. We only competed in this one so far. They are not a common type of trial but will become more common in future.

Won 1 Cattle Trial only competed in 2 & will not compete in any more because I value my dogs to much. On 5th June 2022 I relented on my decision to work in cattle trials & worked in a combination trial which included working in a 3 sheep trial & a yard trial & a cattle trial & the highest overall score was the winner & I am very proud to say that Karana Roy IV came out the overall winner.

We have won the National Kelpie Championship 9 times & come 2nd 14 times. There are 2 National Champions that are missing from this photo Karana Seiko was our first winner & Karana Ripper II was our last winner, Ripper was the son of Sami & by Digger.Another well performed dog is Karana Tige II who came 2nd 2 years in a row 2017 & 2018 in the National Kelpie Championship.25th April 2021 Tige came 2nd once again in the National Kelpie Championship at Allora in Queensland. Karana Seiko who was our first winner & Karana Ripper II who won it after this photo was taken & our latest winner Karana Roy IV was our latest who Won the National Kelpie Championship on the 7th 3rd 2023. All of these results are proof of Champions breed Champions. Karana Duke was the Sire of Karana Sami & Sami was the dam of Karana Ripper II & Karana Digger II was the sire of Ripper II & Diggers sire was Milburn Basil who won a number of Australian Yard dog Championships. Karana Abba II was the son of Boanong Buster who won the National Kelpie Championship as well as the Australian Yard dog Championship & our latest National Kelpie Champion Karana Roy II is a son of Karana Abba II .

Another well performed dog is Karana Tige II who came 2nd 2 years in a row 2017 & 2018 in the National Kelpie Championship.25th April 2021 Tige came 2nd once again in the National Kelpie Championship at Allora in Queensland. Tige is also a son of Sami by Abba II.
